While users were calculating employee\u2019s salary components and filling it manually in the change salary page, Oracle came up with a new salary basis type with which components can be calculated and populated automatically. Helps in flexibly maintaining salary in the exact way you offer it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Components can be,<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Either user-entered or fixed<\/li>\n<li>Required or optional, Salary proposal always contain required components, and optional components can be added manually when required.<\/li>\n<li>Percentage based, either be user-entered or fixed or based on another component.<\/li>\n<li>Default values that are visible for the first time when user uses the salary basis in a salary proposal.<\/li>\n<li>Added to the overall salary or subtracted from it, or be entirely independent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All the above component characteristics are packed in a new salary basis type called<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cSalary amount is determined by simple components\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Prerequisites:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>User need\u00a0<strong>Compensation Specialist (Job Role)<\/strong>\u00a0to do this process, or particularly \u201c<strong>Manage Salaries<\/strong>\u201d privilege to access \u201c<strong>Change Salary<\/strong>\u201d page to manage salary adjustments.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Steps to enable:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Navigate to\u00a0Setup and Maintenance\u00a0&gt; Salary basis &gt; Create<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4115\" src=\"https:\/\/stage.kovaionplay.com\/stage-kovaion\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1-Oracle-hcm-cloud-21A-300x142.png\" alt=\"1 Oracle-hcm-cloud-21A\" width=\"488\" height=\"231\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Step 2<\/strong>: Click on \u201c+\u201d from the below screenshot to add new components in the salary basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4114\" src=\"https:\/\/stage.kovaionplay.com\/stage-kovaion\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/2-Oracle-hcm-cloud-21A-Compute-Salary-components-with-system-driven-metrics-300x57.png\" alt=\"2 Oracle-hcm-cloud-21A-Compute-Salary-components-with-system-driven-metrics\" width=\"495\" height=\"94\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purpose of columns:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sequence<\/strong>:\u00a0Shows the order of visibility of components in the change salary page.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Process Sequence<\/strong>:\u00a0Represents the order of components processing.
