However, they differ in flexibility, control level, and technical complexity.<br>This blog explains when and how to use Express Design Studio versus VBCS to manage field visibility and requirement changes effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Summary<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Experience Design Studio (EDS) is best suited for simple, business-driven UI changes such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Making a field visible or hidden<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changing a field from optional to required<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Configuring role-based visibility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enabling\/disabling fields<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Edit Pages in VBCS is ideal for:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advanced UI customizations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conditional logic based on complex rules<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Layout restructuring<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Groovy-based expressions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Page-level personalization beyond standard configuration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>STEPS TO ENABLE<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Using Visual Builder Studio (VBS) for Redwood Pages<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For pages developed or extended in Visual Builder Studio (especially Redwood pages), you can use the built-in business rules functionality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate\u00a0to the specific Redwood page in Oracle Cloud HCM.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stage.kovaionplay.com\/stage-kovaion\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Pic1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21637\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2. <\/strong>Open&nbsp;the&nbsp;Settings and Actions&nbsp;menu and select the&nbsp;Edit Page in Visual Builder Studio&nbsp;task. Using HCM Experience Design Studio (Classic UI Pages)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HCM Experience Design Studio cannot be used effectively without first creating and enabling a sandbox. Sandboxes are required in Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM to store configuration changes\u2014such as hiding\/showing fields, making fields mandatory, or changing layout\u2014without immediately affecting the live production environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Go to Navigator &gt; Configuration &gt; Sandboxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/stage.kovaionplay.com\/stage-kovaion\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Picture10.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21646\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Click My Client Groups \u00e0 In the Quick Actions area, click HCM Experience Design Studio. In the Actions field, select the page with the field you want to hide. In the row with the optional field, you want to make required, such as Student Status and Disability Type, change Not required to Required.<br>9. In the row with the required field, you want to make optional, change Required to Not required.<br>10. In the row with the Visible field, you want to make Not Visible, Change Visible to Not Visible.<br>11. In the row with the Not Visible field, you want to make Visible, Change Not Visible to Visible.<br>12.
